GiDue forms alliance
for offset development
Italian flexo press manufacturer GiDue has allied with Nuova Castagnoli, an Italian offset press maker, to develop new UV offset technology. The companies announced recently that they will share technology and distribution networks; GiDue will be responsible for worldwide sales and service.
“UV offset technology will compliment our existing portfolio and provide substantial improvement to the growth of the company,” says Federico d’Annunzio, GiDue’s co-owner. “The technology that Nuova Castagnoli has developed will positively change the perception of UV offset printing in the label market. UV offset technology from Nuova Castagnoli is a further step towards standardization in the label industry while at the same time reducing the production and operating costs of the label manufacturing process.”
The Nuova Castagnoli technology features a slow setup idling speed, reduced waste, PC controlled inking and ink/water balance, and a quick-change cassette system, according to d’Annunzio.
GiDue Sales Director Giovanni Perego says that first offset printing units “are working with excellent results at a converter specialized in wine labels, close to Florence, Italy.”
The first objective of the two companies is the launch in the second half of 2006 of a new press line designated Xpannd, which will combine technical and electronic design features from both companies. The press will feature PC Nemo Press Interface, Siemens Servo Technology, Flower Flexo print units, Galileo UV offset print units, and a hot stamping system that was developed by the two companies and which it claims will dramatically reduce the overall costs of the hot stamping process.
