FLEXcon celebrates
50 years in business
FLEXcon, a manufacturer of pressure sensitive film and adhesive products, marked the start of its 50th year of operation in March of this year. From its origin as a garage-based business in Spencer, MA, USA, FLEXcon has grown into a premier polymeric coater and provider of PS films and adhesives. It remains a family-owned, privately held company.
“We strive to blend the original, small company approach with the resources of a global corporation,” notes Neil McDonough, who became president of the company in 1990 after holding a variety of manufacturing, sales, and management positions during the previous nine years. “Throughout our history, we have worked closely with our customers, learning their application needs and challenges. Then we combine our products and know-how with their converting and printing expertise to arrive at the best solution.”
FLEXcon was founded in 1956 by Myles McDonough, Neil’s father. In the early years, the company focused on laminating vinyl and metallic polyesters for use in women’s shoes and handbags. Today its portfolio includes products for applications of indoor and outdoor advertising, product identification and safety/hazard labels, bar coded labels, primary labels and membrane switches.
