George E. Phelps II
Allen-Bailey Tag & Label management announced the recent passing of George E. Phelps II, president and CEO. George’s passing on October 31 followed a sudden and brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Jennifer and George Edward; seven grandchildren; his mother, Bernice J. Salmiere; and his siblings, Janet Phelps, Jennifer Chapman, Laurie Beardsley, and Richard Phelps. George was 63 years old.
In 1968, George began his career with the family-owned business, Allen-Bailey Tag & Label Inc. He began work on the factory floor where he learned the manufacturing processes. Soon after, he accepted a sales position under his father, Richard G. Phelps Sr., and worked in the New York City sales office. In 1989, George joined the management team headquartered in Caledonia, NY, USA as the VP of sales and marketing. In 2001, George became president and CEO of Allen-Bailey, the position he held until his passing.
