Giebeler moves in
with Drent Goebel
Consolidation in the European narrow web world creeps along, usually forced by someone hitting a financial brick wall. The latest casualty is Giebeler of Langenfeld, Germany, whose assets and intellectual property were acquired by Drent Goebel after becoming insolvent. Drent Goebel itself was formed early in 2001 when Drent Graphic Machines of Eerbeck in The Netherlands took over Goebel’s troubled web press division in Darmstadt.
The two operations overlap in security, direct mail and packaging print using UV-based offset technology. The attractions are obvious in what has long been a depressed sector of the market. Service and support will be based in Darmstadt.
Both Giebeler and Drent Goebel have developed offset sleeve systems. The latter manufactures the offset cassettes for Nilpeter’s MO-3300 combination press, while Giebeler has supplied modular offset units for the Gallus Group.
