Innovia’s NatureFlex film wins two awards
NatureFlex, Innovia Films’ biodegradable, compostable, flexible film, has won prizes at two packaging awards ceremonies recently: the DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation, and Canada’s Sustainable Packaging Leadership Awards.
The annual DuPont Awards honors packaging materials, processes, technology and service innovations. Submission of the winning entry was made in conjunction with Earthcycle, a Canadian packaging company that manufactures trays made from agricultural biomass palm fiber. The trays protect the integrity of fresh produce such as kiwi fruits, which are then overwrapped with Innovia Films’ NatureFlex NVS film. Since the kiwi pack was launched in May 2006, sales of these packaging units have increased by 300 percent. The winning entry was cited for sustainability, innovation and quality.
NatureFlex film was entered in the category of Raw Materials Sold in Canada in the Sustainable Packaging Leadership Awards competition, organized by the Packaging Association of Canada. Innovia Films received the gold award in that category, as well as a gold for “Sustainable Packaging Innovation.”
