Discount Labels, a trade-only label printer with more than 25,000 dealers, has integrated the Domino K600i UV digital inkjet printer into its label printing operation in order to add consistent and reliable variable data to label print jobs for their customers.

“For variable data printing, Discount Labels trusts Domino,” says Mike Gore, general manager at Discount Labels. Headquartered in New Albany IN, USA, Discount Labels has 500 employees, 200,000 square feet of space and over 70 printing presses – many of which are proprietary that have been built in-house. The company is a full-service, one-stop-shop for its dealers and having a reliable system for printing variable data is key to their success and growing the business.

“Before we purchased the Domino K600i, the orders we could not market included the wide variety of bar codes. And now after having the K600i, our sales team is able to go out and market these jobs that we could never before have in-house at Discount Labels,”  says Kelly Cart, Discount Labels’ digital prepress technician.

Domino’s K600i, which prints 600 dpi at up to 246 fpm, utilizes iTech Smart features designed and engineered to not only provide reliable high-quality printing, but also increase uptime and throughput while decreasing make-ready, maintenance and material waste. With features such as CleanCap automated printhead cleaning, StitchLink automated stitching of printheads, ActiFlow ink optimization, and user-selectable droplet sizes including 6, 7, 11 and 14 picoliters, the K600i was the system Discount Labels was looking for.
