Componex displays newest idler rolls

09.13.16

The speed of the WINertia Idlers can be varied from 0 to 2,000 fpm.

Componex is exhibiting its complete product line of WINertia Idler Rolls at Labelexpo Americas 2016. WINertia Idlers are manufactured with patented WINertia tubing, Dynamic Center-WIN Balancing and WINertia Self-Adjusting Bearings to give the customer free spinning, low inertia rollers. Every facet of the dead shaft idler roll product line and the manufacturing process is designed to give customers a big advantage: Superior technology, competitive prices and the quickest lead-time in the industry.

To demonstrate this competitive roll product line, Componex has developed a machine that is continuously running in-booth during the show. This demonstration machine is designed to show a side-by-side comparison of eight different kinds of rollers and their abilities to provide traction for the web. All of the idlers are driven by the web and all have a 90 degree wrap angle. There is a speed sensor on all eight rollers and a digital readout for every roller. A continuous web then passes through the machine, and the speed of the machine can be varied from 0 to 2,000 fpm. In real time, all eight rollers are being monitored as the speed of the web is increased.

Booth #1811 visitors can watch as a roller loses traction and can view this happening on the eight speed monitors. The machine uses a clear polycarbonate sideframe on the front side, so that the web can be viewed as it circles through the machine. This gives viewers the best look at how various idler technologies compare to each other, which is intended to dispel many of the myths of the smooth and spiral grooved rolls in comparison with the WINertia AV roll.

Componex proudly produces products that are engineered and manufactured in the USA in a production facility located in Wisconsin. Because of the manufacturing plant’s locale and specifically designed state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, Componex is able to boast quick lead-times — five days or less, from placed order to completed product.

“We’re enjoying demonstrating the unique advantages of the WINertia AV roll at Labelexpo this year," says Cal Couillard, president and design engineer. "The lateral grooves in this idler roll were designed to eliminate the air between the web and the roller in order to maintain constant traction at all web speeds. Our exclusive demonstration shows how the WINertia AV roll outperforms smooth and spiral groove rolls.”
