Contiweb and DG press ServiceS have allowed visitors to explore web offset and finishing processes for packaging and labels at Labelexpo Europe.
Contiweb and DG press are offering the Contiweb Thallo, a highly adaptable web offset press system designed for the efficient production of high-quality, flexible labels and packaging. The Thallo web offset systems are produced and distributed under a strategic partnership between Contiweb and DG press, which has confirmed that is has sold three Contiweb Thallo systems worldwide since drupa 2016.
“The Contiweb Thallo variable-sleeve web offset hybrid system establishes a new level of productivity in packaging,” comments Bert Schoonderbeek, managing director at Contiweb. “DG press’ innovation and technical expertise has created a hybrid design that allows labeling and packaging converters to combine the benefits of web offset with the advantages of flexo, gravure, screen and even digital processes, delivering optimum flexibility for label and packaging applications, without sacrificing print quality.”
“We originally developed the Thallo press to address fast-changing market demands for shorter runs, higher print quality, shorter lead times and lower costs,” states Remko Koolbergen, co-owner and director, DG press ServiceS. “Under our partnership with Contiweb, we also provide maximum reassurance and value for our customers with access to comprehensive customer support, servicing and maintenance through the Goss service network.”
The Contiweb Thallo has been distributed under partnership since drupa 2016, initially under the Goss International umbrella until Contiweb was announced as a standalone brand in March 2017. Contiweb and DG press showcased the Thallo’s extensive range of label and packaging applications with live demonstrations at a joint open house event in March this year.
Key advantages of the Contiweb Thallo include fast changeovers, allowing shorter time-to-market; the standardized, repeatable web offset process; the ability to handle a wide variety of substrates; flexibility of prepress options for efficient just-in-time SKU production and the significantly lower purchase price of offset printing plates compared to flexo or rotogravure printing.
