The narrow web division of Renaissance Mark has been purchased by WS Packaging Group, based in Algoma, WI, USA. Facilities acquired are in Fullerton, CA; Skokie, IL; and Scranton, PA, all in the United States; and in Monterrey, Mexico.
The former Renaissance Mark units have been under the leadership of Bill Harper, who remains with WS Packaging in his same capacity, says Terry Fulwiler, chairman of WS Packaging.
WS packaging was in the process of closing the Skokie and Scranton plants at the end of 2005, says Fulwiler. The group of narrow web operations is responsible for about $35 million in annual sales, he adds.
Renaissance Mark was formed in 2002 from the acquisition by a Denver, CO, USA based group of the former label division of Mail-Well.
The Fullerton plant, in operation for more than 30 years, is the largest supplier in the country of printed labels for the fresh berry market, notes Fulwiler. “The Fullerton location will add to our growing West Coast presence and complement the recent acquisition of Ampersand Label in Garden Grove, California. Of special interest in this transaction is the Monterrey, Mexico, facility, which becomes the first international division within WS Packaging Group.”
WS Packaging operates 19 plants in 16 geographic locations, and has annual sales of more than $300 million.
