The Gold Leaf Awards of the FSEA (Foil and Specialty Effects Association) were presented on May 5, in Nashville, TN, USA. Four awards this year went to Kurz, a supplier of foils for hot stamping and cold foil transfer.
Kurz received a Gold Leaf Award in the cold foil application category for its 2010 Seasons Greetings Card. The Kurz 2011 Wall Calendar obtained the Silver award in the holographic foil application category. Two Bronze awards went to cold foil decorated promotional items – a calendar and a CD package – that were developed by the US subsidiary Kurz Transfer Products. Kurz was indirectly involved in nine other awards for other print products submitted by its customers, that had been hot stamped using Kurz foils.
The stamping tools manufacturer Hinderer and Muehlich, also a member of the Kurz Group, was also successful, receiving two Gold, two Silver and one Bronze award. The die manufacturing specialist received Gold in the "Embossing" and "Miscellaneous" categories, Silver in the "Book Cover" and "Self Promotion" categories, and Bronze for a difficult application on folding carton.
The FSEA Gold Leaf Awards, which was founded in 1992, seeks to recognize print finishing projects that are outstanding from a technical and design standpoint. The award-winning hot stamping and cold foiling applications from Kurz competed with over 75 entries this year.
