FLEXcon has announced that it has certified DRUMcal 51932 2.3 mil white polypropylene for BS 5609 Section 2 for salt water immersion and BS 5609 Section 3 for print durability with multiple thermal transfer ribbons. The move is designed to support converters and manufacturers servicing the petroleum and chemical industries
Given the need for the industry to comply with Globally Harmonized Standard (GHS) requirements, FLEXcon has qualified DRUMcal 51932 with both black and red thermal transfer ribbons to create an offering that will enable customers to print BS 5609 Section 2 and Section 3 compliant labels without incurring the cost of testing or taking the time required to obtain certification.
“At FLEXcon, we are always looking for solutions to help improve the customer experience,” says Brian Ayers, product manager, Product Identification, FLEXcon. “By taking on this testing, we have eliminated the need for customers who are looking to print BS 5609 Section 2 and Section 3 compliant labels to go through testing, saving them the time and expense required to obtain certification per GHS standards.”
Thus far, FLEXcon has worked with co-suppliers such as Dynic, DNP, Armor, ITW Thermal Films and ITW Security & Brand Identity Group to certify their ribbons on FLEXcon’s material.
