WS Packaging Group, Inc. received coveted “Best of Show” honors by the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI) for the 2015 TLMI Annual Awards Competition-38th Edition for printing and technical excellence in the narrow web industry.
The competition drew 262 entrants. The “Best of Show” award was in the multi-process category for a label WS Packaging produced for the Meguiar’s® Paint Protect car finish product. The winning label combined digital and flexography to create a dimensional graphics presentation with visual depth and tactile effects.
“It’s about giving brands life by executing label designs that drive consumer purchase intent,” said Charlie Eitel, CEO, WS Packaging. “All products in all categories face stiff competition from every angle on the store shelf. Our printing capabilities and technologies deliver shelf impact that creates differentiation and category lift.
“The Meguiar’s label truly exemplifies how innovative visual and tactile cues can capture consumer attention at the moment of truth. It’s all about giving brands life by enabling brand owners to get their products noticed when it matters most.”
The Meguiar’s label was produced at the WS Packaging facility in San Luis Obispo, Calif. It was run on an HP Indigo press, 4-color process plus white, with a gloss varnish and a tactile varnish. Post-press work was executed on a Digicon finishing system. The pressure-sensitive label material is 2-mil Fasson® rainbow polypropylene that has been embossed and metalized with a neutral holographic rainbow pattern.
“All in all, the label provided excellent registration throughout the multi-process application while maintaining the absolute highest levels of quality,” said Paul Teachout, one of the judges for the competition. “From its design to level of execution, it is a well-deserved winner of our most prestigious award.”
The 2015 awards competition drew 262 entries from 45 converters from around the world. There were 36 first-place awards and 24 second-place awards presented for North American labels and tags, with international converters receiving 12 first-place awards and two second-place awards.
