Xeikon reports that Colombia-based Topasa is the latest label manufacturer to acquire a Xeikon CX3, becoming the first in Latin America to invest in Xeikon’s newest press based on Xeikon Cheetah technology. This decision is a critical element of Topasa’s growth strategy, which also includes a planned move to a new facility. These strategic investments will allow the company to produce 50% more square meters of labels per month.
Following an intensive search for a press that would reduce costs while offering increased productivity, Topasa chose the Xeikon CX3. Luis Carlos Lopez, president and CEO of Topasa, explains, "We decided for the Xeikon CX3 because of its very high quality, high speed printing, and its ability to produce a wider range of products for our customers. These are characteristics that will make a difference when it comes to optimizing our workflow and offering better alternatives for our customers."
Topasa has been in business for more than 40 years and today has 85 employees. Structured into four business units – Industrial Label, Label Shrink, Label Security and Promotional Label, the company offers products to address the label and packaging needs of its customers. As part of its growth strategy, Topasa is moving from its facility in Medellín to a new location in Guarne, Antioquía. The new facility will be equipped with a state-of-the-art physical and technological infrastructure designed to meet the highest quality standards, including those specified by ISO and GMP.

The goal of these investments is to enable Topasa to reach more potential customers and develop new market niches with competitive prices and the highest quality products. With these investments, Topasa will be able to produce a full range of new applications, including new applications on an innovative production platform that includes the Xeikon CX3. "The Xeikon CX3 helps us to speed up delivery times and ensure high-definition image quality for our self-adhesive labels," says Lopez. "The speed of the press, its print quality and number of available colors, its full rotation printing technology and dry toner electrophotography were all important considerations in making this investment decision. Its printing speed of 30m/min makes the five-color CX3 digital label printer the fastest in its class while its true resolution of 1200 dpi ensures the highest quality on a wide range of substrates. The Xeikon CX3 already accounts for 30% of our production.”
