FLEXcon, a leader in adhesive coating and laminating, has announced that for the fourth year in a row it has been selected by DAXAM, Inc. to help produce and donate graphics for Operation North Pole (ONP), a Chicago-area public charity. ONP works with Chicago’s major children’s hospitals, providing a day of fun and fantasy for families who have a child battling a life threatening illness.
On December 12, 2015, FLEXcon will once again work with ONP to kick-off the holiday season with a magical trip to the North Pole on Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line. Approximately 317 people will attend this year’s event, which will feature an old fashioned Christmas theme. Santa’s winter wonderland will include an array of fun activities to take attendees back to Christmases past, including face painting, games, refreshments and gifts for all upon departure.
The train cars will be wrapped by DAXAM with seasonal graphics designed by Stacey Shuster, using FLEXcon's BUSart Air Egress and SEETHRU-SIGN White/Black Flex 2 products.
“Operation North Pole continues to bring holiday cheer to Chicago-area families in need and this year will be our biggest event yet,” says Barb Dabler, president of Operation North Pole, Inc. “We are wrapping five passenger cars and one engine this year, which is more than ever, and are able to help 71 families in need. We are thrilled FLEXcon has once again offered to help us spread the spirit of the holidays to others.”
“FLEXcon has once again helped us share seasonal joy by bringing the holidays to life for Chicago children and their families,” adds Wojtek Drobek, vice president, DAXAM. “FLEXcon’s BUSart Air Egress is the perfect solution to transform train cars into fantasy vehicles as the material is easy to handle and removes cleanly. The product allows for a quick and seamless installation and removal year after year.”
FLEXcon’s BUSart Air Egress product with air egress release liner technology is designed for short-term, large-format graphics on simple or compound curved surfaces. Applications include bus and train wraps, smooth column wraps, elevator doors, table/bar tops, and window graphics, along with signage laminated to rigid substrates. Its removable adhesive is designed to remove cleanly from a variety of surfaces.
BUSart Air Egress is printable via UV and solvent screen and UV and solvent inkjet. SEETHRU-SIGN White/Black Flex 2 (STSWBF2 - 60/40 pattern) perforated window film is used on the windows of vehicles to provide see-through viewing from the inside out and optimal graphics visibility when viewing from the outside looking in. It is printable via UV and solvent screen, UV and solvent inkjet and is HP Latex compatible. BUSart OV5055 2 mil optically clear cast vinyl overlaminate will be used on the body of the train, as well as the perforated window film. BUSart OV5055 is designed for optimal clarity for the window-perforated film, graphic protection and gloss look for the graphics.
“We are honored to once again be a part of this event, as we are focused on building relationships with our customers and look to help spread joy in their communities,” says Faye O'Briskie, senior sales representative at FLEXcon. “This holiday project allows us to engage with our customers in a charitable way and further strengthen our relationship.”
