Flextec Corporation, a prime label and printed packaging converter located in Colorado Springs, CO, USA, was recently awarded full certification from Graphic Measures International (GMI).
"GMI certication represents a big step forward in our mission to provide our customers 'Quality First Without Compromise'," states Rocky Rahija, Flextec’s president and CEO.
GMI serves both packaging suppliers and brand owners. It audits, certifies, monitors and measures the performance of selected label and packaging suppliers. The organization helps brand owners through print facility certication and scientific, repeatable measurement of global packaging. Overall print quality is ensured by alignment of grey balance, L*a*b* color values, and Delta E measurements.
Flextec’s newly appointed Director of Operations Jeff Collins headed up the team tasked with achieving GMI certication. He comments, “It was a huge effort and in the end we are better for it.”
Collins adds, “We realized three major benefits from obtaining this certication. First, we became much more sophisticated in our color management process. Second, although we had decades of printing experience in-house, most of it was in our heads. After going through the GMI process, that knowledge and experience is preserved. Lastly, the process brought our team of professionals closer together – from prepress through finishing. We are all working from the same sheet of music and with a common goal – the best possible quality for our customers each and every time.”
