Afinia Label has announced that it will be unveiling its new CP950 Digital Cardstock Printer at drupa 2016 in Düsseldorf, Germany, from May 31 to June 10 in Hall 06/D08.
“The CP950 has the speed, print quality and low ownership cost synonymous with Memjet,” says Mike Atkins, Afinia Label’s national sales manager. “In addition, this standalone machine can print fast, photo-quality color on a wide variety of thick substrates, such as inkjet-compatible cartons, corrugated boxes, gift boxes and card stock ranging from post cards to foam board for signage. It’s incredibly versatile.”
The Afinia Label CP950 Digital Cardstock Printer, powered by the Memjet Sirius print engine, is a sheet-fed digital press that can print inkjet-compatible items up to 9" (22.9cm) wide and up to 0.25” (6mm) thick. It has a user-adjustable printhead that can accommodate media thickness between 0.01” (0.3 mm) and 0.25” (6mm). The CP950 can automatically feed, and print on letterhead, envelopes, flattened corrugated boxes or similar substrates.
The CP950’s ability to print directly to cartons will benefit manufacturers who carry large numbers of SKU’s or private label products for their distribution. Printing on demand also lends itself to test marketing packaging and printing variable data such as date or lot codes along with barcodes for just-in-time manufacturing. Digital printing eliminates long lead times, expensive plates, and scrapping of pre-printed cartons associated with packaging design changes.
