Rotocon, a provider of consulting and service to South African label converters in the narrow web industry, has announced the sale of AVT's advanced Helios S inspection solution with two WorkFlow Links to Uniprint. The move is designed for integration with two of the company's slitter rewinders. Pascal Aengenvoort, sales director of Rotocon, led the sales effort.
Helios S is an automatic inspection system delivering 100% quality assurance. The user-friendly design deploys dedicated, advanced algorithms designed to detect any type of defect, including color mis-register, color variations, misprints, text errors, spots, splashes, diecut problems, barcode problems and missing labels. The system works seamlessly on any substrate, including self-adhesive labels, thick embossed metalized substrates, highly-reflective holographic foils and laminates.
Uniprint also ordered two WorkFlow Links, an optional add-on module for Helios S that utilizes information recorded on press to automatically stop a rewinder, avoiding unnecessary stops on non-defective products and significantly improving overall production efficiency.
Prior to the purchase of the AVT Helios S, Lorne Andersen, production and technical manager at Uniprint, joined Pascal Aengenvoort on a reference visit to a leading label printer in Germany to evaluate the AVT system in a live production environment. Based on that visit, return of investment evaluation, worldwide market adoption of Helios S, and local support by Rotocon, Uniprint opted for AVT.
"Rotocon has proven to be a valuable supplier to Uniprint with years of outstanding service and support through their local office in Durban," says Andersen. "During a recent service call to our finishing department, the Rotocon technician provided exceptional work and went above and beyond the scope of the call to answer questions from the operators and provide additional training. The AVT Helios S system will be a valuable extension to our finishing department, and we can rely on Rotocon to provide any necessary support."
Uniprint has a manufacturing operation based in Durban, a regional sales office in Johannesburg and employs more than 300 people.
