Danish label press manufacturer Trojanlabel, in its first three years of existence, has launched three different digital printing solutions. Over this time period, the company reports a 60% growth rate, and turnover in year three is more than DKK 50 million with a profit margin of 10%. Growth and profit is expected to continue, according to Trojanlabel Co-founder and Managing Director Mikkel Wichmann.
The story behind the success of the digital printers Trojan 1, 2 and 3 is based on two factors in particular, Wichmann says: Trojanlabel manages product development and manufacturing processes very tightly to ensure a short time to market, and they are very focused on creating a product which is affordable to a broad range of users and industries.
"We aim to develop a solution that solves the many challenges our customers face, and not necessarily a solution, that comprises every dazzling features one could wish for. These would eventually complicate the solution and increase the cost of the final product. And we develop the solutions without compromising the quality, which is essential to our customers," says Wichmann.
To accomplish this, Trojanlabel has established competitive production facilities in China with 25 dedicated employees. Here, they produce and assemble the printers while design and innovation takes place in Denmark.
Trojanlabel’s products are made to be easy to install due to the compact design, and the software is so designed for operators to start producing labels right out of the box. "Training and habituation is almost redundant. All the advanced mechanics are controlled and designed by Trojanlabel and the touch screen interface makes operation very easy," Wichmann explains.
"Trojanlabel has introduced digital label and packaging printers with a completely new price-to-performance ratio to the market. And they are paving the way for an interesting new behaviour in the label printing market, where manufacturers, contract packagers, print shops and even brand owners take on label printing because this allows them to do small series, just in time, for fast distribution with variable data, and a quality which supports their business," Wichmann concludes.
