Argent Tape & Label, a Plymouth, MI-based label manufacturer serving the automotive, medical, food & beverage, and industrial markets, debuted ‘Phatz Domino’, the company's new Domino N610i 7-color digital UV inkjet label press to a packed house of 65 of their customers and prospects with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, drinks, dinner and Fats Domino music at an Open House event on Friday, November 4.
The Open House was planned specifically to unveil the new Domino N610i, which is the first digital production press for Argent Tape & Label. President & CEO Lynn Perenic affectionately refers to their new press as ‘Phatz Domino’ because, she says, “the term ‘phat’ means excellent and super cool, and that’s exactly what the Domino N610i is."
“Welcome and thank you for joining us for what I view is a historic moment in Argent Tape & Label’s future. Three years ago I rewrote our vision for Argent Tape & Label since obtaining the company in 2010. Part of this vision was to invest in new technology, more specifically the need to embrace the advantages of what this digital press would allow us to do, and what we can offer our customers,” said Perenic as she began the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Argent Tape & Label produces 45 million labels per year with about 75% of its label business in the automotive industry. The demand for providing zero-defect labels for its automotive customers, coupled with the desire to grow the business into other markets, such as Food & Beverage – which tend to require shorter runs combined with a large number of SKUs – helped fuel the need to add digital printing technology.
“By cutting this ribbon, I hereby declare the ‘Phatz Domino’ N610i officially open for business. We invite you to come in and observe what the future holds for us and our customers, as we boldly look to go where no label company has gone before!” exclaimed Perenic.
Following the ribbon cutting, attendees saw the ‘Phatz Domino’ N610i perform. The 7-color digital UV inkjet label press runs at a minimum 165 fpm, and up to 246 fpm. Print resolution is 600 x 600 native dpi, the extended color gamut achieves over 90% of the Pantone range, and the white that has an opacity over 70%. Domino N610i delivers the highest digital productivity, the best digital UV inkjet quality, the most consistent print results, and is a simple operating model. At Argent Tape & Label, the Domino runs in-line with a Delta ModTech finishing system.

Argent Tape & Label is also notable for its achievements at The Gathering of Games, where the company has been honored multiple times. For more about the company's successes playing the "Great Game of Business," read the 2015 Narrow Web Profile written by L&NW editor Steve Katz.
