Constantia Flexibles has invested in new printing technology at its manufacturing site in Louvain, Belgium, for the pharmaceutical packaging industry.
A new 4-color UV flexo press will start full production in the second quarter of 2017, supporting customers with small- to medium-sized batches. At the same time, the new technology lowers solvent emissions significantly, increases print capacity and can cater for new product areas.
“We are delighted that this update in technology strengthens our sustainable outlook on doing business and signals the introduction of more UV presses for Louvain in the future,” says Pierre-Henri Bruchon, executive vice president of the Pharma division.
Constantia Louvain is an integral part of the Pharma division’s satellite concept in Europe, using pre-material from larger plants to print and slit foils and laminates for customers located in close proximity to the plant.
According to Constantia Flexibles, its Pharma division is the world’s second largest flexible packaging manufacturer for the pharmaceutical industry. It operates production sites in Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Vietnam, the UK and Belgium.
