Wausau Coated Products, a manufacturer of pressure sensitive roll and sheet products, has introduced H-318 adhesive for wine and beverage label products. This adhesive overcomes the age-old challenge to create a paper label with a soft look and feel and have it survive moist and wet environments, plus limit bubbles and wrinkles.
“Customers have been asking for uncoated paper labels that will perform well in high moisture environments without the added costs and limited materials of a weld product,” says Jim Volhard, WCP technical specialist. “Traditionally, you either had to choose between a low-cost paper/adhesive that did not perform well in moist or wet conditions or an expensive and harder-to-get bulletproof weld material.”
Wausau Coated Products’ new H-318 adhesive gives paper a fighting chance when moisture and water are present. While providing good convertibility for printing, it also uses an adhesive blend that creates an aggressive permanent bond with the container. This adhesive inhibits water absorption and avoids defects in paper presented to water.
Wineries, breweries and distilleries need confidence that their product will look its best to attract consumers without having to use a film/paper combination, or use special coatings at high costs to get a label that both looks good and functions well. Wausau Coated Products’ line of pressure sensitive wine label materials with H-318 adhesive can give brand owners that confidence.
H-318 is available within Wausau Coated Products’ Wine & Spirits line of pressure sensitive labels.
