All4Labels Schweiz AG, based in St. Gallen (formerly Omnipack AG), has reported a successful field test with the Gallus Labelmaster. The converter was one of the first Gallus customers to install the Labelmaster, and the press has been up and running in daily business since the first day of the field test.
In October 2016, right after the Gallus Innovation Days, the label printer All4Labels Schweiz AG opted for one of the first Gallus Labelmasters available on the market in order to test the machine in the field and under proper production circumstances. Supported by Gallus technicians, this Gallus Labelmaster, equipped with nine flexo units, was installed and put into operation.
Within one year, the machine has gone through all high-quality demands of the daily printing business in serial production of commodity labels and foils. Press operators at All4Labels have responded well to the intuitive handling, fast job changes and high speed of the machine.
“It is simply fantastic," says Patrik Fehr, production manager at All4Labels. “No matter at which speed the machine runs, the printed image is always in register. The Gallus engineers really have done a great job here. What is also impressive is that we are extremely efficient and economic with this machine. Thanks to the short web path in between printing units and the fast job changes, we produce less waste and are ready to print in shorter time intervals.”
The new Gallus Labelmaster machine platform offers speeds up to 200 m/m. Through an HMI touch panel, the machine can be centrally controlled while still guaranteeing easy and fast manual intervention, which shortens setup times. The aluminum lightweight cylinders that were designed for this machine type can be exchanged in a few simple steps, which is another important factor for fast job changes.
The optimized ink chamber for the doctor blade only uses 250g of color, which keeps costs low and was further enhanced in terms of spitting and foaming. The newly designed flexo unit is driven by two servo motors and offers Gallus premium quality. For the design of this flexo unit, Heidelberg know-how from sheetfed offset printing was used. In addition to the flexo equipment, another newly developed screen printing unit is available for high-end finishing.
The Gallus Labelmaster is configurable according to the customer’s needs. With its open interfaces, the machine offers high investment security and the possibility to flexibly to react to future changes in the market.
The new modular platform design is made of two printing units per module. These modules are available in three different versions: the Basic version covers all necessary standards for label printing. The Plus version offers higher flexibility to cover many applications in the label industry, and the Advanced line is configurable according to almost all needs.
