Fort Dearborn Company, a North American supplier of high-impact prime labels for the consumer goods industry, has made a multi-million dollar purchase of five new high-performance HP Indigo labels and packaging presses, more than doubling digital capacity to deliver creative and more sustainable digital printing services. The deal was announced at Labelexpo Europe 2019 in Brussels.
The expanded digital capacity—both HP Indigo 20000 and 6900 digital presses—will enable FDC to ramp up production and speed delivery of digitally printed wraparound labels, cut and stack labels, security labels, pressure sensitive, and shrink sleeves. The new technology also supports advanced workflow powered by HP PrintOS and special inks, boosting the offering to the labels and packaging market.
“Following a thorough evaluation, we decided the best way to serve the growing demand of our top consumer brands for impactful shelf appeal with fast turnaround is the HP Indigo 20000 for its high productivity and wide format and the HP Indigo 6900 for its high versatility,” says Tim Nicholson, senior VP, marketing and technical services at Fort Dearborn Company.
Headquartered in Elk Grove, IL, USA, Fort Dearborn operates from 17 manufacturing sites in the US and Canada, today operating a fleet of HP Indigo 6800/6900 and 20000 presses.
“Congratulations and thank you to Fort Dearborn for its continued investment in the future of digital printing with HP Indigo digital press solutions,” says Alon Bar-Shany, general manager, HP Indigo.
The mid-web HP Indigo 20000 digital press is a highly productive digital press for enhanced possibilities in label, shrink sleeve and flexible packaging production. The 30" HP Indigo 20000 provides converters the ability to deliver greater variation thanks to the new HP Production Pro for Labels and Packaging digital front end delivering fast RIP power for variable data and support for growing SKUs.
The HP Indigo 6900 digital press offers a wide variety of brand protection solutions including invisible security inks and powerful software tools.
