Sihl is presenting a cross section of its broad portfolio at Labelexpo Europe, where the company is focusing on digital printing and sustainability. Sihl is displaying applications from the Facestock, Durables and Pressuretac ranges. The new Packaging range is being debuted for the first time in Brussels.
With its Artysio brand, Sihl is highlighting a new packaging product for digital inkjet printing. Customized packaging can be produced quickly and flexibly, even for the smallest orders. New sales concepts and product presentations open up new markets for narrow web printers, converters and brand-name manufacturers, the company says.
In cooperation with various printing-component manufacturers, Sihl has also developed a new product that makes it possible to combine a sustainable, plastic-based material with high-quality, environmentally friendly water-based digital inkjet printing.
Sihl offers six different laminated films based on PET or PP materials. All laminates have been manufactured according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) guidelines and developed for the production of flexible, primary and secondary packaging for the food and non-food sector.
Due to the design of the product and th fast fixing of water-based ink, Artysio products are suitable for applications where packages are printed and filled inline in a single step.
Depending on the running characteristics of the laminate, Sihl enables a wide range of packaging applications, as well. Its excellent sealing properties are characterised by maximum product safety, strong seals (heat seal and ultrasonic) and trouble-free processing on machines. Artysio products can also be easily opened in a controlled way via the "easy opening" function.
Artysio has numerous other advantages, including photorealistic printing results and enhanced barrier properties. In addition, there are the advantages of the water-based inkjet printing technology, whereby there is no unwanted odor caused by ink or residual solvents that can migrate to the product.
In Brussels, Sihl is also showcasing its enhanced Facestock range. The products O-60 white IHG1 (white glossy), O-60 white IG1 (white satin), O-60 transparent IG1 (clear glossy) have been approved for contact with food and Sihl can provide them with a DoC (Declaration of Compliance) thanks to its GMP.
Some Sihl Facestock products also contribute to a reduction in environmental impact with weight savings of 20% to 42% compared to equivalent inkjet films, depending on the type of ink and film. In the production of selected Facestock films, PET base films with a post consumer recycling (PCR) share of up to 90% can be used.
The Pressuretac range guarantees residue-free labelling of goods in logistics, the company says. These tags only stick to themselves and do not stick to any other materials. Visitors can try out thermal transfer printing for themselves, attaching and removing the loop tags at the show.
Meanwhile, products made of Enduro are durable and hard-wearing. This is made possible by a special composite material with a film core surrounded by two layers of paper. Enduro contributes to sustainability due to its multi-layered structure with a high proportion of paper. Enduro is PVC-free and FSC-certified. The paper fibers used can be recycled.
