In 2018, the company offered one such individual, Lewis Rennison, an apprenticeship role, and Daco has announced that he has been awarded the "Apprentice of the Year in Engineering" for 2020 at East Riding College.
Rennison has developed an impressive breadth of skills during his time with Daco, ranging from general electrical, pneumatics, end-to-end panel building right through to mechanical fitting. All these skills form the foundation of Daco's business.
According to Daco, Rennison is diligent and quick to get up to speed. For example, the first electrical panels that he completed only required few modifications, and by the fourth panel, Rennison was able to work up to standard and trusted to work alone. This level of responsibility is typical across many disciplines as he continues to develop himself into becoming a time-served multi-skilled engineer.
Rennison also demonstrates a desire to improve continuously. He 3D prints many items at home, some of which are often parts that Daco utilizes, and he, therefore, offers an alternative method of manufacture.
Another example shows Rennison working on an electrical project at home, where he then offered an improvement in Daco's current wiring standard. This value of continuous improvement, along with the courage to challenge. is the kind of behaviors that add value to Daco's business, the company says.
