In booth 130 at Label Congress, Fathom Optics, a printed packaging effects software company, showcased its design tools and patented technology. The software platform brings one-of-a-kind 3D and motion graphics to printed packaging without requiring specialty inks, substrates, or additional materials such as lenticular lenses or foils. The event provides the company with the opportunity to showcase its products at an in-person event.
Fathom Optics was recently selected as one of three recipients of the 2021 Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) Technical Innovation Award.
With brands consistently looking for new innovations, Fathom Optics offers an economical and environmentally-friendly solution for eye-catching embellishments, especially when there is a significant volume of labels being printed.
“Fathom’s effects can be run at full speed, so using Fathom as a key part of a package design can remove foil costs, allow jobs to run more quickly, and can incorporate highly customized effect designs – a threefold benefit to converters,” explains Tom Baran CEO, Fathom Optics. “It’s invigorating to show this technology to a live audience. Fathom Effects are best seen live, where you can fully appreciate the motion and shimmer of the labels. We’re thrilled to be at this show with samples and sneak peaks of coming effects.”
Fathom Optics is also planning on showcasing its technology at multiple conferences this fall, including the FTA Fall Meeting, the TLMI Annual Meeting, the AWA Shrink Sleeve Conference, and Luxe Pack New York.
“We’re sharing previews of new effects at Label Congress,” states Baran. “Additionally, we have been rolling out our technology to new packaging type print platforms (e.g. digital, paperboard, tube) with new applications arriving almost weekly, and we’d love to share the latest with you. Overall, we want to work with printers and converters to really push the envelope with the customers and markets that are most interesting to them.”
