BST has introduced its latest innovation, the BST TubeScan print inspection system with SMARTData QLink, which is designed to deliver complete automation of the label printing process – from prepress to packaging and dispatch.
With SMARTData QLink, job data is seamlessly generated during the prepress stage through interfaces with leading ERP and MIS systems and transmitted directly to the print department via the customer network. This integration allows for much quicker job setup. The QLink feature enables real-time editing of the roll protocol database during printing, with the net counter displaying data in real-time for each roll or cumulatively for the entire job.
For digital printing, two standout features are particularly noteworthy. The "Dynamic Job Change" capability allows for job changes without stopping the press, even when multiple jobs are on a roll. TubeScan automatically detects the new job and retrieves the relevant master in real-time for comparison, significantly reducing both time and waste.
Additionally, the system's setup is simplified with purely camera-based synchronization, eliminating the need for external trigger sensors.
TubeScan also offers advanced inline inspection capabilities, including the simultaneous inspection of variable data. Variable barcodes and alphanumeric strings can be checked, decoded, and compared against a database. The QLink data from the printing process aids in defect correction and can even control the rewinder for automatic error positioning. Furthermore, the system uses printed information to instruct a packaging robot on which rolls are ready for delivery.
All QLink data is accessible and editable by the QM department through the network or a cloud solution, enhancing security and efficiency for demanding jobs.
