For the third consecutive year, Fedrigoni Group, a global supplier of specialty papers, labels and RFID solutions, has received the Platinum medal from ESG rating agency EcoVadis. With an improved score of 90/100, Fedrigoni ranks in the top 1% of companies worldwide for environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance within its industry.
The Platinum medal is the highest rating awarded by EcoVadis. Each year the international ESG rating agency examines tens of thousands of companies of all sizes across numerous manufacturing sectors, assessing their operations and management systems in terms of environmental care and social responsibility.
“This recognition is an important incentive to continue to strive for excellence with our stakeholders and customers,” comments Marco Nespolo, Fedrigoni Group's CEO. “We are committed to achieving our ESG 2030 objectives across every area of our business and will continue to use the feedback we receive through assessments such as that of EcoVadis to effect the necessary change, year on year, that will lead us to results in 2030 that we can really be proud of”.
Fedrigoni's 90/100 score is attributed to its strong performance in the "Environment" category and its improved performance in the "Sustainable Procurement" category. As a consequence, EcoVadis will develop a case study on Fedrigoni’s supply chain to serve as an example to other categories. In addition, Fedrigoni was confirmed as the leader in the "Carbon Management" category, among companies with the best system for managing and implementing decarbonization objectives based on scientific criteria.
Fedrigoni's growth strategy is driven by a strong commitment to sustainability, with one of the biggest challenges being the transition to greener energy. The Group aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Its “Making Progress” approach provides a clear roadmap for 2030, with measurable goals that include a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions (a target endorsed by SBTI), a 10% cut in water withdrawal (returning 95% clean water to the environment) and zero waste sent to landfill. Fedrigoni also offers 100% recyclable papers and self-adhesive materials certified by Aticelca and Recyclass.
From a social responsibility perspective, Fedrigoni is committed to creating a safe and inclusive workplace with a focus on accident prevention (accident rates dropped by 17.7% in 2023); reducing the gender gap (the company aims for 35% of managerial positions to be occupied by women) and promoting an inclusive and learning environment for the company’s 6,000 people. Additionally, the Group is taking tangible actions on biodiversity and human rights. Fedrigoni’s ESG efforts have earned the company multiple recognitions, including EcoVadis' Platinum medal inclusion in S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook 2024, ranking it in the top 8% of over 9,400 companies assessed.
