BakPac, the flexible packaging division of the independent, family-run Baker Labels, has installed a second HP Indigo 200K digital press, making it the first company in the UK with dual 200K presses. This expansion represents BakPac’s commitment to staying ahead in the flexible packaging industry, catering to the market’s demands for fast, high-quality, and sustainable packaging solutions.
In line with its two year, £5 million-plus investment strategy, an additional Galaxy Packtech pouch converter is scheduled for November 2024. This means BakPac’s pouch-making capacity will grow to four converters, with two more expected in early 2025, as well.
As BakPac’s customer base has expanded, so has the need to increase production capacity. The addition of a second HP Indigo 200K press enhances flexibility and enables BakPac to take on larger projects without compromising quality or lead times. This investment allows the converter to provide both high-volume and customizable digital print packaging, with advantages in energy efficiency, print consistency, and reduced waste.
“We are incredibly proud that BakPac has chosen HP Indigo again for this next stage of their expansion,” says Darren Godfrey, HP account manager for BakPac. “To have earned the trust of such a dynamic, forward-thinking business means a lot to HP, and we’re thrilled to support BakPac’s continued success with the power and reliability of the HP Indigo 200K press.”
Digital printing is transforming the packaging industry, particularly for businesses seeking short-run or personalized packaging solutions. With BakPac’s HP Indigo 200K, clients can expect faster turnaround times and enhanced print quality. This new capacity gives customers more options for customizing packaging to fit brand needs, from seasonal promotions to eco-friendly, sustainable designs.
By early 2025, BakPac will have six converters, allowing the company to scale up production for custom pouch formats. This capability supports brands that need high-quality pouches for short runs or rapid production, making it easier to meet their dynamic packaging needs.
