UK-based CS Labels has announced that its new digital press, a Xeikon Cheetah, is now installed and already printing label jobs nearly 60% faster than before.
CS Labels is Europe’s largest printer using Xeikon technology, the company owns five its high-end digital presses. CS Labels says it is constantly growing in capacity, turnover, profit and staff since it took the leap to become entirely digital in 2007, leaving behind flexography and gravure technologies. According to Managing Director Simon Smith, the company continues to eat into the conventional flexo market as it becomes more and more competitive on longer print runs. Its client base includes major brand names in addition to thousands of other small to medium companies who are all enjoying the benefits of digital print.
The new Xeikon Cheetah at CS Labels ehnance the company in coping with demand and assist growth which is currently 25% year-on-year. They have recently expanded into the digital heat transfer and digitally flexible pouch markets, and have launched new wrap-around labels which are a more cost effective alternative to their traditional peel and reveal product.
With regard to further innovation, Smith says, “There is increasing brand interest in digital and customers are not just looking at the cost of production, they are looking at how to use the technology to enhance brand value. Personalisation, versioning, high quality effects, less wastage and speedy lead times are all made possible for companies large and small. Being able to quickly launch campaigns based on seasonality, geography, language and special events is all made possible and cost-effective by digital. It is not just about printing self-adhesive labels anymore. There are changes in the nature of the dialogue we are having with customers. Brainstorming with them about the possibilities makes it really exciting!”
