The label industry is mourning the loss of David Irwin, 58, who most recently served as VP of business development at OMNI Systems. A friend and loyal colleague to many, David was a senior member of OMNI’s management team.
Irwin was a long-time member of the OMNI team, as he joined the company in October of 1995.
David was the loving husband of Effie for 36 years and the proud father of Kevin (deceased), Ryan, Kristen and Lauren. He was also the cherished son of Roger and Jean. He was also close with a large extended family.
According to friend and colleague Adam DeFrancesco, founder and CEO of OMNI Systems, Irwin was indispensable in positioning OMNI Systems as a high-volume, long-run thermal label expert known for the value proposition of the highest quality at the lowest cost.
Irwin originally joined OMNI as a label broker and he grew with the company, overseeing its significant growth over the years.
“David and I graduated from Charles F. Brush High School in Lyndhurst, OH,” says DeFrancesco. “David had the vision to service customers with more significant thermal requirements and directed our marketing efforts to attract and retain those clients.
“I am delighted David saw OMNI grow to a $100 million organization based on his sales and marketing vision,” adds DeFrancesco. “I only wish he could see the results of his legacy when we achieve our midterm goal of being a $300 million organization in five years.”
In addition to his successes with OMNI, David was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the Cleveland Indians – now Guardians. He would attend many games with his family and enjoyed collecting baseball cards.
