Mactac, a LINTEC Company, has announced its plans to acquire Label Supply, a fixture in the Canadian roll label market for more than three decades. The acquisition expands the geographic footprint of both companies in the Canadian label market.
Over the past few years, Mactac has been strategic about building its brand through acquisitions. These moves include adding Duramark Products (formally Ritrama USA) and Spinnaker Coating.
Kevin Clunie, VP of sales and marketing, Mactac, joins L&NW to explore how the company’s growth will position it and its customers for future success.
L&NW: How will Label Supply help grow Mactac in North America and meet growing customer demand?
KC: The acquisition greatly expands our footprint in Eastern Canada, which we view as strategically important to the industry and the growth of Mactac. The Label Supply approach to the market enhances our responsiveness and reach at a time when converters are looking for support.
L&NW: What is Mactac’s view of growth, and how has this been central to the company’s operations over the past few years?
KC: We have taken the opportunity over the past few years to add capacity, specialty service capability, and, most importantly, talented employees. Adding Label Supply to the team does more of the same in a geography where we identified a need and opportunity for growth.
L&NW: How have your recent acquisitions helped improve your customers’ businesses?
KC: While the last few years have been challenging with supply constraints, the pandemic, and economic conditions, our newly expanded capacity and access to additional material vendors has allowed us to manage supply for many customers. We also benefitted from adding experienced employees with industry knowledge that I believe helped our customers navigate that unprecedented landscape.
L&NW: What can you say about the Label Supply team and the future transition?
KC: Expanding the operational and commercial capabilities of Label Supply, Mactac will invest in the facility’s resources, technology, and equipment, including adding high-volume slitting assets designed for larger material rolls. Mactac will expand product offerings, adding LINTEC high-performance products and others, while ensuring supply stability.
L&NW: What can we expect from Mactac in the future?
KC: Our teams are working hard to get close to our customers’ teams to understand what they need, what they value and how we can meet those goals. We are also increasingly getting back to executing against repeatable processes. The last few years proved Mactac is incredible at troubleshooting, but now that things have stabilized, we have an opportunity to build upon the procedures that have underpinned our success.
