Since entering the printing scene in 1989, Luminer Converting Group has prided itself on being a unique printer and converter. Initially focused on adhesive coating, the company has evolved to produce superior quality labels for its customers in the health and beauty, chemical, pharmaceutical, and industrial markets. From combining unique substrates and adhesive coating technology with narrow web flexographic printing and converting, to traditional substrates like pressure sensitive labels, the label printer and converter continues to strive to be inventive by ramping up its capabilities.
Finding the Right Solution
When expanding its services, Luminer Converting Group began to experience issues with short run flexographic printing. “It was a time-consuming process, not only when plate mounting and inking up the press, but most of all when color matching difficult or custom colors. We were frustrated with rejects and the reworks from jobs that didn’t initially match the colors designers were requesting,” said John Borrelli, partner and COO. In an effort to alleviate these issues, Borrelli began looking toward a digital label printing solution. “We did our homework at Labelexpo with a team of seven employees from several different departments within our organization. We looked into all available solutions, and after seeing its capabilities, and consulting with our customers and our in-house team, the Epson SurePress L-4033AW made it to the top of our list, in part due to the color gamut, quality, the option of white ink, and the price point at which we were able to acquire the equipment.”
