FLEXcon has announced that Kalamazoo, MI-based Cummins Label is leveraging its Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Adoption Program and expertise to reduce the risks of delays to market, lower the costs associated with end-product certification, and increase sales. Cummins Label is an integrated label converter that services the food and beverage industry, medical device manufacturing, personal care, pet products, agricultural chemical, lawn and garden and other specialty markets.
Working closely with FLEXcon, Cummins Label was able to successfully integrate numerous UL-recognized FLEXcon products into their own UL portfolio. These include THERMLfilm NEXgen products which offer the next generation in topcoat, film and adhesive technology, as well as “greener” options such as a more eco-friendly adhesive and the industry’s first post-consumer waste release liner. FLEXcon’s UL program enabled Cummins Label to offer more competitive pressure sensitive label products to the marketplace, and also to provide more eco-friendly solutions for its increasingly environmentally conscious clientele.
“As a label converter in a highly competitive industry, we can’t afford the time or expense of UL testing ourselves,” says Scott Nagel, Cummins Label. “FLEXcon’s UL Adoption Program enables us to offer more competitive label products while clearly demonstrating our commitment to customers’ safety requirements.”
Underwriters Laboratory (UL) is the United States’ largest and oldest recognized testing laboratory, which offers consumers the confidence in continuous product compliance when making their purchases. The UL mark – which is actively sought by most manufacturers and familiar to millions of consumers – indicates compliance with rigorous industry safety standards in North America. It certifies that the product has been evaluated and found to comply with all applicable UL requirements.
