The G Ink offers both bichromic and thermochronic ink options. The thermochronic option allows a label or cap to change appearance at designated temperatures. The bichromic option provides a color-shifting effect when the package is viewed at different angles. Recently, International Metal Decorators Association has recognized G Ink Bichromic Cap with two international awards – Best of Category Closures and Technical Achievement – at its 2014 International Metal Decorators Association Annual Conference.
“We are constantly working to develop ways for our customer’s wine to stand out from the competition whether on the shelf or in the store’s cold box,” says John Cunningham, Director of Innovation and Process Improvement. He adds, “G Ink gives added dimension to a bottle allowing it to make a statement among the sea of choices on the shelves. It is opening a new world of options for creative label and cap designs that will not only catch the eye of the consumer but engage them with useful information such as when the wine in the bottle has reached the ideal drinking temperature.”
G3 Enterprises is working closely with designers and wineries to develop unique, integrated bottle designs to take full advantage of the G Ink technology. Located in Modesto, CA, USA, G3 Enterprises was founded by the third generation of the Gallo family with the vision of expanding services to better serve the wine and spirits industry.
CTI’s Sun-Powered Inks for Labels
Chromatic Technologies Inc. (CTI) has announced the introduction of its Sunlight Inks (photochromic) for such applications as paper, film and pressure sensitive labels. Sunlight Inks are a breakthrough in chemistry that now offer the first photochromic inks that provide: fast kinetics, which turn on rapidly when sunlight hits it; repeatability, which enables the ink to turn “on and off” forever; a broad color spectrum offering; as well as durability in the sun.
In development for two years, Sunlight Inks are the result of Chromatic Technologies’ (CTI) proprietary technology which makes CTI a leading supplier of specialty inks and chemistry for consumer packaging.
The new ink offering is capable of securing a substantial role in the use of labels and packages throughout the world as well as CTI’s Sunlight Inks offering a refreshing look for the industry’s existing offering of labels.
“We are committed to helping brands win the summer, tailgating and other popular outdoor usage occasions,” explains Patrick Edson, chief marketing officer for CTI. “Sunlight Inks create ‘theater-in-the hand’ for a brand’s audience: a consumer walks outside and, in seconds, the Sunlight Inks transform from clear to a colorful reminder to apply sun tan lotion, or several garnish recommendations appear for cocktails, or a surfboard is revealed with a secret code for a mobile app.
“CTI’s chemists and inventors have a dedicated team innovating in the label markets. Our goal is to ensure every label in the world is interactive with a consumer and that it dramatizes a brand’s positioning,” Edson adds.
Sunlight Inks can be applied to a label itself or the package container itself and are available for export across the globe. “Sunlight Inks scored high in consumer purchase intent (“definitely will buy”) across multiple product categories.
“Consumers noted it’s a great way to entertain guests and give them an excuse to take something new and interesting to a party,” Edson concludes.
Owing to its growth and considerable success over the past two decades, CTI now offers custom innovation incubators for customers that incorporate invention, design, consumer testing and prototyping.
