Kocher+Beck has launched a new line of magnetic cylinders. The Cobalt Series incorporates an array of strong earth magnets to provide high holding force for challenging applications.
“This advancement in magnetic technology will allow us to expand the range in which flexible dies can be applied,” says Jim Ward, vice president of engineering and operations in the company’s facility in Atlanta, GA, USA. “Printers and converters can now implement flexible die technology where speeds and diameters were limited in the past.”
According to Ward, the company has implemented new machining and handling techniques that allow the company to safely install the stronger magnets and maintain all of the precision and tight tolerances that come with all K+B manufactured magnetic cylinders.
In addition, Kocher+Beck USA has announced an expansion to its EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) capabilities, offered through the company’s Solid Tooling division in Atlanta, GA. The company reports that, through improved supply chain management and new agreements with key suppliers, Kocher+Beck USA is now capable of delivering EDM tools up to 30" in diameter x 60" in length.
“This expansion of our current product offerings is one more step in our commitment to the solid tooling market in North America,” says David Morris, president of Kocher+Beck USA. “We are now able to serve a number of new market sectors, as well as our existing customer base.”
