Martin Automatic celebrates 35 years
In 2003, Martin Automatic Inc., of Rockford, IL, marks 35 years in the web handling business. Starting out as a maker of web guides, Martin has grown to be a supplier of automatic zero-speed splicers, rewinds, tension control and web handling systems.
Owner John R. Martin began the business in 1968 building web guides in both his and his brother’s garages. Today, Martin Automatic occupies 200,000 square feet of manufacturing, engineering and customer service space at its headquarters. Its products are installed in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Martin supplies automatic roll-changers and other web equipment to many printing and converting industries. Some of its major markets include labels, folding cartons, liquid packaging, newspaper and commercial printing, flexible packaging, coating and laminating, business forms and disposable products.
