Precision Label, of Calgary, AB, Canada, is the winner of the 2005 “Best of the Best” Flexo Award from the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen. The award will be presented at the organization’s 30th anniversary banquet in Las Vegas in February.
The association — known as IAPHC, Graphic Professionals Resource Network — recognizes excellence in the printing and graphics arts. The International Gallery has become one of the premier events for the graphic communications industry worldwide. Entries originating from 13 countries were judged at this year’s competition.
Precision Label entered several labels, winning awards in the Bronze, Silver and Gold Categories. The winning label in the Gold category was further honored by winning The Best of The Best Flexo Label Award.
The winning label, for Ron Refino Arecha Rum, was produced for a company based in Havana, Cuba, via its distribution arm based in Calgary. It was printed on an 11" 10-color Nilpeter press, in seven colors, (four UV and three water based inks), with hot foil stamping and gloss UV varnish, in one pass.
Precision Label also runs two five-color presses and one eight-color press, all Webtrons. The company supplies labels in diverse markets, including electronics, food, bottled water, oil, wine, and more.
