ETI Converting Equipment, a Montreal-based label machinery manufacturer, has announced it has received a patent (Patent Number 2,788,206) to apply self-adhesive linerless labels without compromising the label’s shape. Shape limitation has long been a drawback of linerless labeling technology. This labeling machine from ETI uses a reusable liner to apply linerless labels without making marketing compromises on the final packaging.
The new technology, developed by ETI and described in this new patent, allows users to dramatically reduce waste resulting from the use of a liner in a self-adhesive label construction. A film liner is used as a carrier to allow the diecutting of the label and is then reused many times with other linerless facestock rolls. According to ETI project managers, the liner can be reused more than 20 times. This process gives ETI customers a considerable advantage because it allows the user to achieve significant savings on raw materials.
Pragati Pack, a label converter in India, acts as a distributor of this system.
