At Labelexpo Americas 2018, Cartes displayed its Gemini Series finishing solution and focused on laser converting. The company's laser converting unit offers an unlimited lifetime and a semi-sealed source. With Radio Frequency Laser power control and "Cut on the Fly" software, Cartes' machinery achieves maximum perfromance with diecuts of any shape and cut through, micro-perforation, engraving, and progressive and regressive numbering. The machine also operates in a right to left web direction.
In addition, Cartes highlighted ILC (Invisible Laser Cutting), which makes it possible to diecut dark printed labels and avoid the "white edge." The same system also prevents adhesive from overflowing out of diecutting label edges. The technology is even applicable for linerless materials and IML labels.
