Appvion promotes sustainability with Resiste 15% PCW

09.15.22

The new product with 15% PCW boasts phenol-free technology and is applicable for such end uses as deli, bakery, weigh scale, retail, and logistics.

Appvion, a provider of direct thermal paper and film products, has featured its newest product in development at Labelexpo Americas—Resiste 15% PCW with phenol-free technology.

The product has been optimized for end uses such as deli, bakery, weigh scale, retail, and logistics. Resiste 15% PCW with phenol-free technology, launching in 2023, boasts a post-consumer fiber base that performs like a virgin fiber product. This topcoated label product promotes sustainability by giving new life to materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

Resiste 15% PCW with phenol-free technology generates crisp imaging for consistent scannability with excellent water resistance. The product also has the ability to withstand the elements such as heat, UV light, and rough handling. It is compatible with modern-day direct thermal printers and produces sharp, high-contrast barcodes at print speeds up to 8 ips.

“Our customers are sustainability-minded, so we’re excited to bring a direct thermal solution with post-consumer waste to the market early next year,” says Meyer Weiss, vice president of advanced materials and solutions, Appvion. “Our team has been diligent in developing a label that provides outstanding performance with a lower environmental impact.”

Appvion’s wide range of experts at the event have also been discussing the company’s new Dispersible Direct Thermal solution. With excellent dry strength and runnability, the product can withstand freezers, microwaves, ovens, and more. The technology also disperses rapidly in water along with any imprinted graphics, leaving no residue behind. The R&D team engineered the product with a scannable image in mind, as the product helps generate easy-to-read labels and barcodes, making labeling and track-and-trace capabilities easier than ever before.

Appvion’s Dispersible direct thermal product improves the clean-up process, as it completely disperses within seconds in normal tap water or a dishwasher, depending upon the level of agitation. By eliminating the time spent scrubbing labels off containers, labor costs are reduced.

According to Weiss, Appvion has also been promoting the launch of its new website, which has been modernized to improve the user experience. Learn more by heading to the company’s website at www.appvion.com.
