Screen staged the official commercial launch at Labelexpo Europe 2017 of its Truepress Jet L350UV+LM printer with low-migration inks that is designed to elevate the food packaging space. The new label printer was previewed at Print 17 in Chicago prior to its official commercial availability.

The versatile Truepress Jet L350UV+LM responds to the growing trend toward labels designed for a variety of substrates and corresponding converter demand for capitalizing on the sustained growth in small to medium run work in the food label printing market.

“The demand for digital label printing machines capable of coping with various substrates and securing food safety is increasing in printing companies,” says Ken Ingram, vice president of sales and marketing. “Our further extension into the food package and labeling marketplace meets the market changes of recent years including diversification of consumer preferences and demand for small to medium lots.”

In addition to the successful introduction of Screen’s newly developed low migration (low permeability) inks that offer enhanced safety, the press includes a nitrogen purge mechanism for accelerating the curing of UV inks. It also delivers print speeds of up to 60 m/m and enables the reproduction of a wider color gamut by adding support for orange ink to conventional CMYK and white inks.

In order to stably transport and print a thin film base material that is reactive to heat from UV lamps, a chill roller for cooling can be mounted on the conveying roller portion. The Truepress Jet L350UV+LM responds to a wide range of printing applications, from conventional labels to food packaging labels.

The Truepress Jet L350UV+LM will be joined by the Truepress Jet L350UV+, another new high-end model developed for standard label applications. The system offers enhanced productivity, substrate compatibility, color reproduction, operability and other advanced features that provide functionality over conventional models in a wide range of fields, the company says. Its ability to maintain both excellent speed and quality make it ideal for label printing.

“We will continue to answer the diverse needs of the label printing industry and provide solutions that enhance the value of various products and contribute to the development of this industry,” Ingram said.
