Pro Label acquires Xpanded Label Technology

January 24, 2006

Pro Label Inc., of Appleton, WI, USA, has purchased the assets and intellectual property of Xpanded Label Technology LLC, also of Appleton. The acquisition allows Pro Label to provide a broader range of service and product offerings to former Xpanded Label Technology customers, while adding new technology to their current capabilities, according to Pro Label President Kevin Wichman.

“We are excited about the growth that this acquisition presents,” says Wichman. “Our commitment as a trade supplier was one of the key reasons that we saw this as an excellent opportunity for our customers and our company”.

In addition to the assets and intellectual property, several key employees will be joining Pro Label Inc. as part of the transition plan. The Xpanded Label Technology name will be discontinued.

Xpanded Label Technology was founded last year by Jim and Sue Volkman, and by Dave Volkman, Jim’s brother. Jim, Dave and brother John Volkman, who joined after the founding, all had experience with expanded content labels from their prior work at Mid America Label, which then became Promo Edge. Jim Volkman, the president of Xpanded, later worked for Dunsirn Industries and for Avery Dennison, which had acquired Dunsirn.

Founded in 1992, Pro Label Inc. is a manufacturer of custom pressure sensitive labels, coupons and specialty non-pressure sensitive products.
