Topflight Corporation, a manufacturer of pressure sensitive labels based in Glen Rock, PA, USA, has received the 2005 Supplier Excellence Award for Exceptional Delivery Performance from Black & Decker (B&D), a global manufacturer of power tools and products. The award recognizes on-time delivery of labels and nameplates to all of Black & Decker’s North American locations.
To supply B&D in a produce-to-demand mode, Topflight utilizes dedicated Lean Manufacturing cells driven by automated ERP (enterprise resource planning) system links. “This automation has helped Topflight to achieve a 99.5 percent on-time delivery record for 2005, while lowering internal cost and reducing the non-value touches through the component processes,” says Topflight President Mike Falco.
Topflight manages more than 1,100 parts and ships over 8,600 demand lines in an automated supplier-managed system that eliminates traditional purchase orders, expedite communications, and invoices. Also eliminated are inventory, obsolescence, lead time and lot sizing.
