Stork Prints, a pioneer of direct laser engraving, has formed a partnership with AKL Flexo Technik to develop new flexographic products. According to a joint announcement, technicians from both companies are conducting research into seamless sleeves and laser engraving, anticipating developments in in-the-round (ITR) plate technology.
“We believe that developments in seamless sleeves and the laser engraving process will lead to an optimal performance for the flexo printing industry,” says Wilfried Koopman, managing director of graphics at Stork Prints. “The partnership with AKL gives us a springboard for further advancing the quality and workflow of ITR technology. The deal strengthens our belief that the single-step digital engraving process represents the future for flexo printing forme production.”
Stork Prints, of Boxmeer, Netherlands, now represents the marketing and sales interests of AKL, which is based in Warburg, Germany. The companies share a global distribution and production network, with agents and sales centers based in 14 countries.
