Press manufacturer Omet, based in Lecco, Italy, will conduct two open house sessions for the converting public this month. Scheduled for April 10 and 11, the events will take place in New Jersey, USA, and in Shanghai, China.
The company’s Chinese and South Asian customers will visit one of Omet’s customers in China to observe the Omet Super Varyflex press in action. The servo press is used for products in the tobacco industry, including soft and flip-top packets, boxes for multi-packs, and the film used for sealing the cigarette packaging.
Described by Omet Sales Director Marco Calcagni as “the most complete machine we have ever built”, the Super Varyflex has a web width of 520mm and is equipped with 10 flexo printing units and twin rotary diecut stations.
The US open house, focusing on the folding carton market, is sponsored by Matik North America of West Hartford, CT, which represents Omet products. The event will be held in two locations: the Clarion Hotel and Towers in Edison, NJ, and at Innovative Folding Carton’s plant in South Plainfield, NJ.
Keynote speakers are Jonathan Agger of Karstedt Associates, who will speak on folding carton industry trends; and Page Crouch, professor emeritus of Clemson University, whose address is titled “New Technologies, New Efficiencies”.
Seminars to be held at the event will cover such topics as prepress, servo technologies, print sleeves, rotary diecutting, the Opaltone print process, and gearless/shaftless sleeve press technology.
Live demonstrations will be conducted on the eight-color 26" Omet Varyflex servo sleeve press. For information, contact Lisa Richard at Matik North America, 860-232-2323, ext. 120.
