The printing and converting equipment of Omet, the narrow web press manufacturer based in Lecco, Italy, was the focus of a day-long open house and educational program April 11 in Edison, NJ, USA, sponsored by Matik, the company’s North American representative. The event, which focused on folding carton converting, drew more than 50 attendees, divided about evenly among converters and industry suppliers.
Omet’s servo driven equipment was fully explained to the group during a morning seminar, as well as in the afternoon during a visit to nearby Innovative Folding Carton, a converter that has an Omet VaryFlex press. In addition to its flexo presses, Matik specialists also explained Omet’s diecutting, foil application, holographic placement, and screen and gravure modules.
Several supplier companies participated in the event with tabletop exhibits and with speakers during the program. These included RotoMetrics, Kodak Graphic Communications Group, Advanced Vision Technology, Harper Corporation, Kurz Transfer Products, Sun Chemical, Water Ink Technologies, Luminite Products, Martin Automatic, Flexo Concepts, Kempsmith Machine, Northwest Coatings, Xynatech, and Rotec.
