Multi-Color Corporation, of Sharonville, OH, USA, has announced the purchase of a new combination flexographic/rotogravure press to expand its printing capabilities. The press, manufactured by Omet, of Lecco, Italy, will be the first of its kind in the United States, says Don Kneir, president of Multi-Color’s Decorating Solutions Division. The acquisition was facilitated by Matik North America, Omet's distributor.

“The wide format press is configured with flexographic, gravure, screen, and foil platforms, setting new industry standards for both print quality and productivity,” says Kneir. “With the new press we will continue to lead the marketplace with innovative decorating solutions. This new technology addresses one of the market’s top issues: to deliver complex and intricate graphic designs in a timely and cost effective manner.”

Jack Mackert, vice president of operations, adds, “This press can produce the tighter registrations that will enable us to print labels with the highest reproduction requirements. In fact, this press was specifically designed to enhance the decorating options we have to offer our customers.”

A public company, Multi-Color (NASDAQ: LABL) serves consumer product companies, food and beverage companies, national retailers, and container manufacturers worldwide. It is one of the world’s largest producers of in-mold labels and heat transfer labels and a major manufacturer of cut-and-stack and pressure sensitive labels and shrink sleeves. Multi-Color has eight manufacturing locations in the United States.
