GEW has announced the development of SEEcure, an online monitoring system that measures output within the UV lamphead. It runs with the latest generation of the company’s e-Brick controls and allows continuous monitoring of all lamps in a system simultaneously. Information from the SEEcure system is displayed on a touch screen. An electronic sensor is built into the UV lamphead, which receives a combined output of the UV light from the reflector and directly from the lamp, ensuring that the UV incident on the web is monitored.
The company also launched QuantiCure, a chemical test kit that gives quantitative and reliable UV cure measurements of the substrate that are simple to calibrate and operate on the press. The system enables the user to measure cross-linking, easily configure UV power levels, monitor UV lamp and reflector operation, control energy consumption and permits jobs to be accurately repeated at any time.
A third new development from GEW is e-System Inert, a compact inert atmosphere UV curing system designed for narrow web packaging applications where the use of printed films for food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications is increasing. The system enables the use of ink and coating chemistry with reduced levels of photoinitiators, thereby minimizing the risk of taint and odor migration from the packaging. It can also handle siliconizing and release liner applications.
