Kenneth Stack, vice president and general manager of Jetrion Industrial Inkjet Systems, explains that Jetrion’s new UV inkjet system is aimed at the short run market, and finds a natural complement in the tool-free digital diecutting systems made by Spartanics. Stack says, “The Jetrion 4000 is the first narrow web digital press that delivers real economic value for run lengths up to 50,000 labels and beyond. Because the high-precision Spartanics Finecut Laser Cutting System avoids the time delay and costs of tool-based cutting technology, it enables users to fully realize the flexibility of Jetrion 4000 UV inkjet printers. Now different size kiss-cut labels can be created on the fly, either by using the Spartanics’ system in-line with the Jetrion 4000 or off-line — with jobs proceeding from artwork to finished product within minutes.”
The Spartanics Finecut Laser Cutting System handles a range of substrates without the burn-throughs, pinholes and other defects created by systems with less capable laser control software, according to the company. Kiss cuts, through cuts, engraving, serial numbering, scoring, scroll slitting, and perforating are handled by the Spartanics Finecut in a wide range of substrates including polycarbonates, vinyls, adhesives and thin flimsy materials, among others.
